Luis Mena is Founder of Mena CFO Consulting and brings something rare to school district finance leadership: the analytical discipline of the private sector applied across almost 15 years at the financial helm of complex nonprofit and charter school organizations.

His career began in the energy industry (Enron), where he developed a foundational fluency in capital markets, large-scale financial analysis, and the high-stakes decision-making that oil trading demands. After more than a decade, Luis transitioned to the nonprofit sector, serving for five years as CFO of a nationwide nonprofit before joining YES Prep Public Schools — one of the largest and most respected charter networks in America — where he served as CFO for eight years. During that time, YES Prep grew from $145 million to $325 million in revenue while serving over twenty-one thousand students across Houston.

Luis holds a BBA from the University of Texas at Austin's Business Honors Program and an MBA from UCLA.
