Joshua Giraldo
Chief of Human Capital
Blackstone Valley Prep

Joshua J. Giraldo serves as the Chief Operations and People Officer at Blackstone Valley Prep Mayoral Academy, a K-12 public charter school network serving scholars and families across Central Falls, Cumberland, Lincoln, and Pawtucket, Rhode Island. In this role, Joshua oversees both Operations and Human Capital, leading work across talent strategy, employee relations, organizational systems, school operations, and long-term planning. His work is grounded in BVP’s mission to prepare every scholar to achieve their goals for college and the world beyond, as well as a deep commitment to equity, transparency, and building strong, sustainable systems for schools.

Joshua’s connection to BVP is both professional and personal. He was a founding teacher at Blackstone Valley Prep from 2011 to 2013, later served on the organization’s Board of Directors, and is now also a BVP parent. Before becoming Chief Operations and People Officer, he served as BVP’s Chief of Human Capital, where he led efforts related to compensation, recruitment, staff development, employee support, and organizational culture.

In addition to his work in education, Joshua serves as a Rhode Island State Representative for Central Falls. His public service is shaped by his lived experience as a first-generation college graduate, former educator, parent, and lifelong advocate for communities like the one that raised him. Across his work in schools and government, Joshua is committed to expanding opportunity, strengthening public institutions, and helping build systems that are more effective, more equitable, and more responsive to the people they serve.
