David LeMay Director of Operations
Lift for Life Academy

Dr. David LeMay’s tenure at Lift For Life Academy (LFLA), an independent charter school district in the City of Saint Louis, began more than two decades ago. His career path has mirrored the growth and evolution of the Academy from a 6-8th Middle School to a Pre-K through Twelfth Grade charter district. He began his career teaching 8th grade American History, but quickly assumed various leadership responsibilities. After serving as the Middle School Assistant Principal for four years, he became the Principal of LFLA High School in 2012. During his nine years as Principal, the school consistently outperformed its peer across the city, including selective magnet schools. Beginning with the 2021-2022 school year, Dr. LeMay became the Academy’s Director of Operations overseeing multiple departments within the Academy, including Human Resources, Transportation, Facilities, and Food Service.

Dr. LeMay is a committed leader who believes in the power of education to advance opportunities and transform lives. His own educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in History and International Studies from Saint Louis University. He also received a Certificate in Business Administration. He holds two Master’s Degrees from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in Curriculum & Instruction and Educational Administration. In 2016, he was awarded his Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Saint Louis University. His dissertation focused on the relationship between grade level assessment performance in Missouri with eventual ACT outcomes.

Dr. LeMay credits his growth and development as a leader to two things. First, the opportunity to continuously learn and grow through advanced studies and high-quality professional development opportunities. Second, the opportunity to work collaboratively with a number of dynamic and innovative educators and leaders throughout the organization. In addition to ensuring effective daily operations, Dr. LeMay is committed to the continuous improvement of the organization and ensuring the foundations are built for another twenty-five years of success.
